Personal Power Series

As I started to take photos of friends and family, I realized I wanted them to feel the kind of comfort in front of the camera that even I hadn't yet found. My goal as a photographer became to allow people to fully be and show up as themselves- to see themselves in the way the lens saw them. The highlights of each shoot developed became the Personal Power series. Capturing others in their power- whether that be casual, dressed up, or doing what they love- became healing for me as a queer, Indigenous woman struggling with her own insecurities. The photos featured are made up of artists, loved ones, and community members. These muses have all contributed to my continued inspiration as a visual artist and encouraged me to heal in my own self-image. I aspire to pursue more creative direction in styling and theme as I continuously discover the meaning of "personal power."
